the 270 will definitly work but as bo stated requires careful shot placement if you are new to hunting, depending on your size and weight i would recomend...

personaly i have a suzuki 250, its stable, 2-wheel drive and ive pulled cattle with it, cost $2,500 but it might be beter to go a little farther though...

personaly i always used daisey redriders, but for hunting a squril easily, i dont think a daisey will work if you get one it will end up costing around...

that would depend on the damage to the gun - scratches , dents , rust, & just hard use- depending on how old it is, id say no more than $200
