You are right---that less than flattering phrase is the first thing that comes to mind. I think I'd have come up with another name.

SOL--- several things come to mind for me. First is a very good Mexican beer called El Sol. Second is "Secure Operations Language". Third "Senators On Line". Sol is often used to refer to the sun and was the name of a sun god.

I know that it stands for that . I just think it's ironic that a survival gear company names it that when sol stands for something u wouldn't want.

If you do a Google search on S.O.L. survival gear, you will find that it stands for Survive Outdoors Longer.

I don't know who would want to buy survival gear with SOL Written on it( if u dont know the other acronym For "SOL". I'll tell you in the answer box.Tags: None
