    You are right---that less than flattering phrase is the first thing that comes to mind. I think I'd have come up with another name.

    SOL--- several things come to mind for me. First is a very good Mexican beer called El Sol. Second is "Secure Operations Language". Third "Senators On Line". Sol is often used to refer to the sun and was the name of a sun god.

    It is kinda funny if you think about it MNwhitetailHunter. Suppose that may not have crossed their mind but at the same time I can't imagine it couldn't have.

    I know that it stands for that . I just think it's ironic that a survival gear company names it that when sol stands for something u wouldn't want.

    If you do a Google search on S.O.L. survival gear, you will find that it stands for Survive Outdoors Longer.

    Why did the company that made S.O.L survival gear name sol. Its really ironic that they make survival gear with that name. Cracks me up every time I see that. I don't know who would want to buy survival gear with SOL Written on it( if u dont know the other acronym For "SOL". I'll tell you in the answer box.
