Lacking a pressure bandage, use clothing to fashion a wrap to immobilize the ankle.

    Hi...

    Was that a trick question?
mesarich had the right answer...properly wrap it, with an "athletic" type pressure bandage, preferably.

I know you would not venture far into the wilds without the latest issue of Outdoor Life so it can be placed under the foot and bent upwards then taped in place-paper of most kinds can be rolled in to stiffeners for most injuries. You can also make drastic alterations to the boot or shoe of the injured leg and use most anything along with tape, string, a web belt to immobilize the joint. Careful as not to make any bindings to tight as to restrict or cut off blood flow which will result in new bad news

A sprain, unlike a break, does not need a splint. The best thing to do would be to wrap it. A pressure bandage would be best for this, but a shirt would work in a pinch.
