Local bakeries/grocery stores are great places to get bear bait. Anything that they are throwing away (donuts, bread, pies etc.) will work good and they usually will give it to you for free. Add anykind of fruit (plums work really well). Then pour anykind of grease (bacon especially) all over the ground around the bait station so the bear will walk through it and then track it away with them creating a nice sent trail for other bears to follow.
