In 1958 I took a hunters safety course, this was in New York, and was required. It made it possible for me to start hunting small game st 14 and big gam at 16. I now live in Florida and there is no age limit providing they are with an adult. What are your thoughts on the Federal Government wanting to set a country wide age limit for new hunters. I think it should be up to the parents and the maturity of the child. I think the government has already taken to much out of the parents hands and look where it has gottn the youth of America. I do support the hunters safety class for all new hunters.

I think, the government has gone way to far already. I think that the professional Hunters should be giving the hunter safety course and should grade each person to there maturity. I know some adults who do not have enough sence not the spray and pray when out hunting for deer nd some kids that have great gun knowledge. The parents should make the choices in the childrens lifes, to hunt or not, how to punish or not. It never hurt me, it didnt hurt my sons, and it will not hurt my grandsons.

Treestand, I was sometimes going alone into the woods at age 9 but didn't start hunting alone until age 14. I think it should depend on the individual kid's maturity as judged by the parent(s).
