I moved to the west central coast of Florida about a year ago and and the suburb I live in has a healthy population of deer, coyotes and turkey. I'm seeing high numbers of brand new fawns in the last week or so. Is that common given the breeding cycle in this part of the country?

Well no one seems to want to take a stab at this question so I'll give it a go. This is just my best guess. Breeding cycles are most definitely affected by the changing of the seasons, problem with that in Florida is the season changes are very weak. That makes it hard for the deers senses to pick up on when it's time to get down to business. My guess is your deer will typically hit rut more in December possibly even January where ours up north hit rut in late october(give or take). I know up here, rut can change by 2-4 weeks if we have a very warm fall. My guess is you're not seeing anything too uncommon for your area. But I'm no expert..

In the Deep South, August is when many faawns are born. As SD-Whitetail said, the rut is much later than in the north.
