IN north Florida, east of I-75, by the Georgia line. When does the Rut start and what is the best cal. for heavy brush and swamp

I'm still not sure when the rut is in the South, but I think that the farther south you go, the earlier it starts. Also, hunting the cattle trails up north here, I do know that a good rifle would be a levergun, possibly a Winchester, and some .30/.30 shells really do the trick in thick brush. You could also stick to 12 ga. 00 buckshot, since it was originally developed for hunting deer in the swamps.

Treestand, what did you finally pick for a brush gun? I like the 12 gauge with slugs in heavy undergrowth.Attached Files
