A drum intro for openers, and several in the middle. To remove doubts about my liking of classic swing.

                              Kind of.

My parents have always been 60’s & ‘70’s pop country western fans and as a kid the only radio station that we could get locally played that genre of music. As the oldest sibling my music exposure was somewhat limited. A lot of my earliest recollections of rock came from listening to AM radio with my cousins when we visited. Around 1980 I figured out how to hook up the coax cable to my stereo player and finally could get classic rock stations out of Albany, Utica and Binghamton NY. Opened up a whole new world. Thing is I never really caught anything that didn’t get air play, so most of what I’m familiar with are the songs you find on “Greatest Hits” collections. Probably why most of my CD’s are of those type.

My Jr. and Sr. high school years had only top 40 AM music available. When I left home in 76 for further education, l bought a real stereo and found FM in a big city of 25,000. 2 years later in a city of 70,000, I found collage radio and many FM sources. Steely Dan was right, sort of. No Elvis, but wow, MUSIC!

The city is now populated by 200,000. Designated Metro Area that covers 4 counties. The popular music played is uncomfortable, disturbing, and harsh. l listen to a Classic Rock station or talk radio.
