    get a lower caliber, i use a .243 it is a smaller rifle little recoil and when you shoot it the deer wont a big mess to clean the highest for deer that i would go with is a .308 and that is for closer shots in the brush a lower powered scope is better if you hrnt in the woods (you can see more at one time)

      There are some great hunting areas at Ft.Carson. I was stationed there in 2003-04. Elk, Mule Deer, Antelope and Turkey. Expecially on the south end of Post. Check with the Rec-Services they can set you up with Hunters Ed., permits and pretty good deals on guns and ammo. And point you in the right direction. You need to check in with Range Control before going down range, for a range pass. They also have a nice range that you can practice with civillian weapons. Wooha!!
