  • 22 States have drug resistant Salmonella from chicken

Cook your chicken well. You do not want to get a drug resistant anything.

Good tip. Salmonella is no joke even in its regular form. I had it in '99 and have been a food-safety freak ever since. If I may add to your advice to cook thoroughly (165 is minimum safe for chicken, 180 to be sure), equally dangerous is kitchen cross-contamination. A little chicken-juice smear on your faucet handle or stove dial can still contain living salmonella 3 or 4 hours later. Same goes for eggs, though they are less likely to contain salmonella than poultry.
