I had a friend that hunted with a Red tail hawk, something's I learned that interested me. Hawks and some other birds of prey can lock their heads in position while the limb their perched on sways to keep focus on target. The movement of the eye when a rabbit blinks ,may sign his own death warrant from the birds perch over 100yards away.(Old Hawk Eye ). They have a second eye lid that closes automatically when they feed to prevent punctures from fish fins ,bones ,with such high magnification they may only appear as a dot to the bird. If a bird is loose and doesn't, return before nightfall ,they often revert to their wild instincts and never return. Not only are the talons and beak dangerous ,but the wing beats are capable of breaking human arms,so to subdue the bird cover his head and they become calm. If the opportunity ever arises where you can be a spectator it's a rewarding sight.
