I've never used deer calls much, and I'd like to hear from some of you regarding the can calls for doe bleats. Good, bad or indifferent? Do they just call in other does, or do the bucks respond?

I've never been big on the can calls. I'm sure they work for some people though. I have heard of them calling in everything from a fawn to a big buck, but I have never really liked them. I thought they sounded good at home, but one use in the woods and my ears thought it sounded terrible. Maybe I am picky or maybe I just had a bad call. Give one a try and possibly prove me wrong.

I have used them for years, and I've had pretty good luck with them. Like any other call, they don't work all (or even a majority) of the time, but they work often enough for me that I carry and use one. I haven't actually called in many does, mostly bucks, but that's probably because I mainly use them in the rut. I've called in a lot of little bucks with them, and several big ones, including one I shot with my bow last year. Oddly, I actually would agree with JM, they don't sound very realistic to my ears, but they do seem to work for me in spite of that.
