Today I celebrate 8 years of life that I should not have had. I had a major heart attack in 2006 and almost did not make it to the hospital. If it were not for my youngest daughter I would not be here, as she had the presents of mind enough to dial 9

Today I celebrate 8 years of life that I should not have had. I had a major heart attack in 2006 and almost did not make it to the hospital. If it were not for my youngest daughter I would not be here, as she had the presents of mind enough to dial 911 and get rescue on the way. Needless to say she is a hero as well as my hero for taking such quick action when it was needed. I chose today to spend it squirrel hunting which I have gotten back into in the past few years. I may not come home with a limit or maybe none at all, but I do come back to every day life calmer and with a sense of well being. I can think of no better place to celebrate my life now than in the woods chasing bushy tails.

We are all so blessed to be able to enjoy the opportunities and experiences that we do. Sometimes it's easy to take the little things for granted and not give appreciation where we should. Thanks for the reminder!

      Hi...

Your daughter certainly should be your HERO...!!! If only more sportsmen took their daughters hunting and fishing with them...!!

As others who have survived extreme crisis, I was left here because I have unfinished business in helping to raise two grandsons and teaching them to hunt and fish.

Glad you got through it. Stories like yours are why I try my best to appreciate every day of my life. Hard to imagine missing out on the 8 years since then(and counting) of life.

Good for you and I hope you have many more. I didn't hunt squirrels for a number of years and I have gotten back into that. It beats watching football. It's also a great way to scout for deer.

Yes it is. I have had 6 or 7 doe come up within a dozen yards of me and had a 6 point yearling within 15 feet and looking straight at me and another 6 pointer trail me through the woods. Interesting experiences to say the least. If you want check out squirrelsunlimited.com. It is a web site dedicated to squirrel hunters and squirrel hunting.
