Has any on else heard about this new tick-bourne disease that deer are getting? What is that all about? Will it effect humans if we eat those deer?

I just heard of a new tick that's not familiar to northeastern states called the "Lone Star" tick. I don't fully understand it but I think it causes your body to not break down the natural sugars in red meats and gives you an allergic reaction, sometimes taking up to 8 hours for symptoms. To not be able to eat red meat would be absolutely devastating to my life style.

I remember reading about a deer borne illness related the black legged tick. Is this the one you mean? I think those diseases are transmitted from getting bitten by an infected tick. I don't know that it can be transmitted by eating infected deer. Then again though, I would not consume a deer that acts sick either way.

Which disease are you talking about? Can't really comment if I don't know what disease.
