When did this site begin showing un-asked-for video commercials? I was just enjoying a quiet moment, reading some answers to a question, when the sound came blaring out and I nearly spilled my coffee in my lap. Any editors or webmasters reading th

Just block all the ads. Use IE, click tools, safety and turn on ActiveX Filtering. Video can't play until you turn ActiveX back on. I also have tracking protection and in private browsing turn on. Then I don't get all those annoying ads when I visit the next site.

They showed up after they got the new site up and running. They're annoying to be sure, but I just keep the volume on my laptop turned down when I'm on the site. Given how poorly the magazine (and every other kind of printed publication) industry is doing these days, I guess OL has to make money somehow

When did this site begin showing un-asked-for video commercials? I was just enjoying a quiet moment, reading some answers to a question, when the sound came blaring out and I nearly spilled my coffee in my lap. Any editors or webmasters reading this, please put me down as one user who will stop using this site if these video commercials continue. (And no, I can't just X out of them because the X never appears, and no, I don't want to turn my computer volume off because I might want to jump over to Pandora if the mood should strike me. I paused the first commercial just to shut it up, and a minute later, another one began. I'd expect this crap from the NY Post's website, but not Outdoor Life)
