Three years ago I shot a 16 lb. gobbler with a full, 8" beard and no spurs at all. I didn't go digging into any body cavities to ascertain sex, but he had a gobblers fan and the wingtips were worn off from strutting. He had all the sexual characteristics of a male, long legs, darker coloration and the proper features on his head. His caruncles were bright red when I shot him. He was with another gobbler, so I don't know which one was gobbling when I called---they came in silent.

No cjohnsrud, it was definitely an adult tom. It had a bright red/white head, and came in strutting, so it couldn't have been a bearded hen. And it was too big to have been a jake, because it had a 10 inch beard and weighed 19 pounds. A very odd bird...
My brother said he'd heard of of spurless gobblers before, but I never had, so that's why I was wondering if anyone here had ever encountered one.

Anyone on here ever shot a spur-less adult gobbler? My brother shot a nice gobbler this morning, and it otherwise looked and acted like any ordinary tom, but both legs were as smooth as a hen's.
