Lots of things are still going here in Iowa. Muzzleloader and late-split archery deer, squirrel, rabbit, upland game bird, goose, fall turkey archery, coyote (continuous open season), and trapping.
My family gun-hunts deer in muzzleloader season instead of the more-popular shotgun seasons, because we don't care for the "orange army", so that's what we're doing now around the holidays. My dad and one of my brothers shot nice bucks today, as a matter of fact.

Central New Yorkers have plenty to complain about when we look east to Albany (not to mention southeast toward that cesspool at the end of the Hudson), but we can't complain about hunting seasons: Grouse, pheasant, cottontail, snowshoe hare, squirrel, and most of the furbearers are all open at least to the end of February.
