I see all of these stories concerning the "could have been a record" fish/deer/raccoon whatever. Does it matter? How many of you care if your names are in the record books?

Hey Captain, good to see you on here again, thank you for your service sir.
As far as I'm concerned, the only time I would pursue entering anything into the record books would be if there was a legit chance it was a state or world record. Otherwise, I don't really care about stuff like that, and would honestly rather avoid the publicity.

It seems like most of these "could of been a record" stories involve fishermen/hunters like you. They don't really care if they caught the record fish but someone they show the picture to does.

Several "book" deer adorn my walls and none are in the book. The hunt and the mount are reward enough. Truth be told many of the, what some would consider lesser animals are my most memorable.
The other side of this question, Who reads the book?
Good to see you back here The Captain and I for one look forward to more of your wit. Thanks for all you do.
        later,
        charlie
