.223 or .22 WMR for coyotes? shots will rarely be over 150 yards. also, what rifles chambered in these calibers would you recommend? looking for something around $200-$250

.223. I own a .22 WMR, and it's a nice caliber for close-range varmints, but it just doesn't have the wallop to cleanly kill coyotes consistently, unless you're taking head shots. I hate to say it, but you won't find a new rifle in .223 in your price range though, so if that's all you can spend it'll have to be a used one. If you are willing to go a little higher, Savage and Weatherby both make good rifles in .223 for ~ $350-$500.
