        Also to clarify the question - lobo is asking if there are any other ways to catch nightcrawlers besides watering the lawn.

          Thanks, that's what I suspected.
          You can "fiddle" them up using the vibration of a board driven in the ground. You can "call them up" with a mild electrical charge. I don't know the details of these two methods, but I hear they work well.

              Hi...


              Vibrations through the soil they are living in can bring them to the surface.

              Drive a wooden slat into the soil, eight to twelve inches deep. Use another wooden slat to scrape it across the top of the vertical slat, thereby making it vibrate.

              This tends to bring up any nearby 'crawlers.

                put a metal spike in the ground and put a chainsaw on top of it and hold the gas for a little bit, they'll come right up!

                  Electric works well, but I hesitate to describe how because it can be dangerous!Little buggers will come out dancin'

                    wait until it rains, pick up a bunch,store them in wet news papers shredded ,store in a cool moist enviroment
