Personally I would never want to put a scope on one. I think it defeats the purpose of hunting with a traditional rifle.

I’m with you on the traditional side of things, JM. Seems kind of like hooking up propane to a Dutch oven.

I would never even think about putting a scope on Ol'Flinty. She is a traditional gun and is gonna stay that way.

On the other hand....if your eyes are past focusing on the those open sights and not able to acquire the target some sort of optic sight is in order. If you are only half way to old age blind, sometimes a good peep sight will allow you to shoot well and not require the scope. This is a problem that I have worked through and had to scope rifles where it was a crime to move away from the open sights. Not much sense in having them if you can't shoot them well, so you do what you have to do.

I guess my take on it is, if it's legal and ethical, then I don't really care what somebody does. I gotta admit, that would look kinda odd though!

I've gotten to a point in life where I have a heck of a time using iron sights on my T/C Hawken. I haven't put a scope on it yet and won't. What I will do is just use my Omega all the time.

Leave the smoke poles with iron sights, put scopes on the inlines.

WITH THE BALLISTIC DROP OF FLINTLOCKS THE SCOPE HAS TO BE SIGHTED AT A CERTAIN RANGE,SO IF THE SHOOTER KNOWS HIS RANGE SAY TO A BAIT STATION WHY NOT,NOBODY HARDLY EVER MENTIONS USING ASSUALT WEAPONS ON DEER HUNTING TO EACH HIS OWN ,

I'm with you and wouldn't even think about doing it. Save the scope for an in-line
