While scouting in the snow in mid-October following some deer tracks, we came across what appeared to be some urine dribbles that had a red stain. Would this be from a doe that is in heat or that is past being in heat? Should we have saved some of the stained snow as a deer attractant when we would be hunting during the rut?

She was either in heat(was most likely in heat) or the urine had been sitting there for a few days and changed colors. It would be much easier to just buy a bottle of scent than trying to keep the urine from the snow fresh(the longer it sat in the snow before you found it the more scent that was lost).
