Thanks guys, yes I can't make up my mind. I hunt mixed woods, we hunt alone for a couple of days ( I still hunt) and then do deer drives a couple of days. Some open woods with distances up to 150 yards, some brush with 50 yard visibility. I have shot 4 inch groups @ 100 with Rem 870 and Simons 2x scope, and I have a set of true glow rifle sites underneath. Getting old, hard to see thru little space between scope and sites. Always looking for something better……

A low power scope for brush busting would serve you well, a 2 power or an adjustable that starts at 2 then you can use the other for long shots. Don't rule out the red dots the magnification is usually low and they work great for quick shots.

I have used one before and did not like it. As you stated, it was too hard to see the open sights through. My eyes are not that great anymore, so I want to use a scope. What I have found is that a low power, wide angle scope does the job for me. I like a two to four power with at least 50mm lens.

Personally i've opted to just remove the scope and use iron sights on my slug gun. I figure if its too far away to shoot with iron sights why take the shot anyways.

I never have liked see through mounts. They put the scope up too high. Having one is like you can't make up your mind what you want to do.

I have a scope on my slug gun with a see thru mount, but there is very little room to "see thru" anybody know of a good shotgun scope mount, where I can still use my open sites for those "brush busters".
