I have a deer bait pile (its legal in NJ) deep in the woods. The woods is surrounded by soy bean and corn fields. I have hunted the stand in the evening with success. Would it be safe to hunt the bait pile stand in the morning or should I avoid it and focus on acorn trees and field edges?

i usually hunt the woods in the morning and field edge in afternoon.but it's what ever you wanna try. the season is early have fun. curiosity killed the cat, it might get you a monster. good luck

Don't hunt over it too often or the deer will detect your presence and will only come at night. They may not see you, but your scent will spread around over time. I've seen it happen with food plots---even though nothing is shot off the plot, if it is hunted regularly, the deer will quit coming except for yearlings and the occasional spike.
