I have piles of gun and hunting magazines from that time and much earlier. I settled for reading about the guns and hunting adventures that I had neither the money or time to pursue. Winter jackets for the kids and trips to Disneyland took priority. The magazines were a cheap substitute to quell my hopes and kept me dreaming. I own better guns then I dreamed of back then and, if the body will allow, I will get to go on those hunts. If not, at least I knew what was important and i would not consider the effort any kind of sacrifice. I have done what it take to be a good father and get the opportunity to be a good grandfather. Yes, the magazines had value but it is not lost by recycling them and clearing some space for new things.

Probably not. My first reaction was that 1980 wasn't that long ago until I realized that it was at least thirty pounds ago.
