I had a doe come within 20 yards of my campfire. I had a radio playing rock music also. She didn't spook until I tried to sneak to my camera.

Never had deer stick around too much. This past turkey season in a state wma I had nine turkey hens come to my calling and stay within 10FEET of me and my brother kneeling in the middle of a clearcut and talking just to see what they would do. they didnt care but the gobblers wouldnt get anywhere close

I've had deer come right up to me when I would have fires in my grandparents woods in Ohio in the spring and summer. I think they were generally used to it and they knew they wouldn't be bothered. BUT, come deer season those deer were nowhere to be seen. I have had turkey come up within feet of me in a blind as well as sitting beside a tree. Just don't blink!

I've had turkey hens practically in my lap with no blind, but have never had a deer come close while I was tending a fire. Deer will go right back into a prescribed burn area while the stumps are still smoking---curious, I guess.

My brother and I were catfishing one evening and had a dow and fawn come down to water about 30 feet from us. They saw us but didn't seem to upset about us standing there talking.

I was actually standing right beside a small fire burning some TP and sticks and wearing all black under armour and i had a buck come 20-25 yards from me. i would have killed him but the flintlock misfired. as for the blind while turkey hunting, i do not feel they should be used unless you are bow hunting. i regularly have birds within feet. sit still.

For the deer, you have to get past their sense of smell and thats tough.

Sitting by a fire. Only in a camp or state park. And in a blind, yes I have had turkey walk within feet of me during the spring season, if you blend in well and dont move you can get really close to turkey.
