how does the 7.62/39 sks rifle rate as a poorboys deer/coyote gun?

I use SKS for deer hunting sometimes. Be careful when you are jacking a cartridge into the chamber. The gun has a tendency to fire when the bolt slams home, if the safety is off. I have had that happen a couple times. It is because of the way the firing pin is designed. I have never had the gun go off if the safety WAS ON
