I was told that there is a way to tell a bucks track apart from a does. is this true. i was told that a bucks track is wider then a does

There isn't a "for sure" way that I know of, but there are some pretty good indications. Size of the track: a doe and a buck of the same body size will have the same size track, but bucks are, in general bigger than does, so the bigger the track, the more likely it is to be a buck.
Foot placement: this is probably the best indicator---a doe will put her back hoof in the print of her front hoof, but a buck's shoulders are wider than a does, so the hoof prints will be separate and distinct.
Bucks will generally be heavier than does, so even with hooves the same size, the buck's print will be deeper, but you have to see sets of tracks together in the same soil type to tell anything from this. Hope this helps. Mainly, it's Big Tracks Equal Buck Tracks.
