Tis a bit early, but I would like to extend a very Merry Christmas to the OL staff and to all in the OL online family.I will be in the Northshore for the next few days, and hopefully enjoying the holidays with friends and family...For the last 4 days the Atlantic side of New Brunswick has suffered a powerful NorEaster.Hundreds of coastal homes have been evacquated, mile long stretches of seaside highway and bridges are gone. The unseasonably rough sea's and record mild temps will keep me from enjoying any ice fishing for Smelt and Tommy Cod while I'm back home,BUT,the lack of snow should prove for easy pickings on our abundant Snowshoe Hare population(white bunny's really stand out agaisnt a green backdrop). I hope everyone has a great holiday and may 2011 be the year of wall hangers.

          Merry Christmas to everyone!

I hope everyone takes some time this weekend to truly recognize the holiday for what it is. I hope everyone is surrounded by friends and family they love and truly get to cherish this time together. And despite the fact that presents, egg nog and candy canes are all amazing symbols of the holiday, the true meaning goes well beyond that. Take some time this weekend to be thankful of everything we have in our lives and remember that there are always those much less fortunate than us. Remember all of the men and women in our armed forces who will not be lucky and fortunate enough to spend this holiday season with their loved ones.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Ammo, good comment about the armed forces, thirty seven years ago this Christmas, I was away from home in a land far away. I understand what it is like to be in a hostile environment such as our men are.
The Christmas season is about the beginning of Peace on Earth as that was when the Prince of Peace came to save us from our sin and ourselves.
As you consider your blessings, please remember to pray for all of the service men and women who are in harm's way so that we might be free. And if you see a service member in uniform, thank them for their sacrifice to keep us free. If you can, and you see them in a restaurant, pay for their meal. That will show them you mean it when you say thank you.
You all have a blessed and safe Christmas and remember the reason for the season...

It is so true about thanking the brave men and women who protect us. I was at Gander Montain the other day. I was with my dad and we were talking about the next hunting season. (My third) A woman walking by said to my dad "Cherish the time when they're young because before you know it they'll be off in Afghanistan." As I walked away I wished her a Merry Christmas and told her to tell her son thank you for his service to our country. I did not know this woman, but it felt appropriate to take the 3 seconds I did to recognize our Armed Forces. Too many days go by that we don't think about the men and women fighting for our rights. Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year and may God bless you in this Christmas Season and in the New Year!
