Is it true that deer can see the UV glow in your camo? Because in magazines you see stuff advertised thats supposed to get rid of it!

I think this is one of those odd scientific discoveries that no one can truly prove to be right or wrong... but, there's a company (or two or three) who have decided to capitalize on it.

If there was a "study" done by a scientist and it premiered on an outdoor channel network and advised that we have been wrong all along! The color purple is literally invisible to deer!! And not only will it make you invisible, but it completely skews the deer olfactory senses and they will no longer be able to SMELL you!!! How many hunters do you suppose would be dressed in blaze purple clothing out in the woods?

Who can say with absolute 100% certainty that deer can see UV color spectrum and frequency? Are Whitetail Deer writing these studies?

...I think you get my point. =)

    Just my two pennies.

More likely deer see the light reflecting off the polyester in so many of our hunting clothes. I prefer all cotton during warm seasons and wool for the colder times. Being both are natural fibers they absorb light much better than synthetic fibers.

This one of those things that supposes a lot. The only way to prove or disprove what the deer can see would be to get inside the deer's brain to determine their visual capacity. As yet, there is no technology available to make a definitive statement one way or the other. I have killed a lot of deer without using all of that stuff; so did people like the Native Americans who were killing deer in the US before there was a US. Not to mention people like Lewis and Clark, Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett, you get my drift.
These products are just another "magic Bullet" to get you more deer.
Psst, there ain't no magic bullet, except in the movies.

If your stalking a animal staying behind natural cover is the only way to go, give them no chance to see the UV (if they can see UV) stay low & behind something that will break up your out line.

it could just be a hype, or something that possible. i wouldn’t bank on it. a deer’s primary sense is its smell. it will use this more than its eyes to detect immediate danger. smell is more powerful to a deer since its nose is way stronger than its eyes. of course magazines and Advertisements will say this is true so you gamble with them.

The problem is there's going to be a group of corporate greedy hungry individuals who will capitalize on people who are passionate about things in their life. Things like deer hunting.

And they'll use fancy-pants verbiage like "UV spectrum" and "frequency response"... and they'll say things like, "It's no wonder you've killed anything in your entire life! If you don't have our product UV-B-Gone, you are wasting your time out in the woods!" And they'll plant that seed in your mind and tell you that you cannot take any chances this season!! You simply must spend $29.99 on this tiny little 8oz. bottle of UV-B-Gone or the deer will SEE you!!! Run (don't walk) to your local sporting goods store and buy our product!!

...and guess what we do? We run out and buy it. =)

Bo you are wrong on this on; I go so animal while hunting; becoming one with nature's creatures, getting inside their brains, seeing through their eyes, feeling their wants and desires. So I hereby assure you deer have never heard of or understand U.V. or the concept there of.
                  ;-D))))
