I'm in the Air Force and from Western Kentucky. I try to make it home each year during modern gun season, as this allows me the best chance for success for the limited time I have for scouting/stand placement, and the rut is usually good during this time. For the years I can't make gun season, like this year, I have to hunt during late archery season (mid-late December). My question is, other than talking to the landowner/neighbors, and viewing topo maps, what's the best strategy for this scenario/time of year for our region? Remember, I will only have about two weeks total scouting/hunting time. Any help appreciated. Andy Ball
