I am always looking for ways to become a better deer hunter. I live in Wisconsin, so I battle the cold every now and again while hunting. I usually grow a beard for the hunting season, but I am starting to wonder if that is a mistake. I always read about how keen a deer's nose is and I am wondering if my beard is adding unwanted scent?

wearing cover scents is like camoflage/it doesn't mean you can't be seen ,but it helps to break up the landscape.years ago no one used camo, it wasn't sold.cover scents are not the only answer to being succesful,as they are only a tool to help our chances to not being detected.scents can often be found naturally in the field, lots of differnt plants have strong smells, while crossing cattle paths i'll often step in thier pies to cover up. yes it's possible to be sucessful without scents and camo or calls and marginal caliber weapons.True there is no gurantees if you use a truckload of gimmicks, after you've seen enough white flags then you start to figure out that anything you can do to help the odds is worth thier weight.
