    Look at Big O's wreath of stars beside his name. That is what the points get you. It was explained to me that the more points you have or stars beside your name, the more you have answered people's questions, participated in forums and asked questions. Getting a "good comment" or a "bad comment" directly reflects to your points. If someone reports you, you can have points subtracted. If whomever supervises this sight does not approve of your language or suggestions, they may dock your points or suspend your response priveledges.
