The spurs and reddish head indicate it is a jake. Jenny does not usually have spurs rather smooth legs. Feather color is not a reliable indicator of sex.

A friend of mine killed a fall bird & is confused about the sex. It had buff-tipped breast feathers but a large red/white/blue head with caruncles at the base of the neck & "spurs" approximately 1/8" long with no apparent beard. From this description, can you tell the sex of the bird? What would be the main characteristic(s) used in determining whether the bird is a jake or jenny? He believes it is a jake but has been told that, because of the brown breast feathers, it is a jenny.
