How much more shot do you get from a 3 1/2 inch compared to a 3 or 2 3/4. Does this really make a differce when hunting.

By the math, the difference is small, from 2 ¾ to 3 ½ is only about 18 pellets, and 175 fps looking at Federal Speed-Shok steel assuming 72 BB pellets to the ounce Having a 3 ½” chambered gun will give the most versatility possible in my opinion Every shell length & shot size has its place If you can use them all properly, the firearm will not be your limiting factor I would highly recommend owning a 3 1/2” chambered shotgun

One thing to keep in mind as well, when shooting a 2 3/4 in a 3.5in chamber, the pattern of your shot is different. It may be scattered more, even with a tighter choke. I know that it may not matter at close range, but it could at longer ranges.I prefer to just stick with 3 in. I don't really see the need for a 3.5in. It is really the difference of a few yards.

I wouldn't go as far to say that you should always use 3 1/2 inch. It all depends what game your are going after. Smaller upland birds don't require more than 2 3/4 as long as you pick the right shot (4 works great for pheasant, 5-6 for grouse, 7 1/2 for dove, etc..) I've bumped up to 3 inch for some pheasant hunts (the birds in SD keep getting stronger). 3 1/2 inch shells around here come in handy when you're going after big canadian honkers late season when they're decoy savvy. I could go on all day for different situations but if you have any specific situation questions, feel free to elaborate! Best of Luck!!

Get the 3 1/2 u will see the difference. My friends and i have made some awsome shots with the 3 1/2. If its turkey, deer, or what ever the game use the 3 1/2 it has the range and the knockdown power. I use the Remington 870 with full choke unless its turkey then i change it to super full.
