I'm trying to teach my yellow lab how to retrieve birds. What brand of bird scent works the best for training a young dog?

I really don't think you need a scent. I trained mine by just teaching fetch with a ball. you can use anything. You need to first get them interested in getting something and bringing it to you. After that you can incorporate a small cap gun and toss your decoy so they aren't gun shy. They will soon get to know that the sound of the gun means that they get to fetch! Also to keep them from getting a tough mouth, don't let them chew on stuff as puppies. They will think that whenever they get something in their mouth they can chew it. Good Luck!
