I hear talk of Strut Zones. How big of an area are they? Can anyone elaborate on Strut Zones?

Usually fairly small, such as a 50 or 100 yard stretch of logging road, for example. But once in a while they can be pretty big, like an entire field or ridge-top. I don't really seek them out to hunt, per se, unless I have a bird that hangs up there and won't respond.

I've seen them strut, with hens in attendance, in zones as long as 30 yards and as small as 20 feet. It looks as if they have a fence at each end, because they always turned around at the same place each time. I find them productive to hunt. It's a place the bird is almost certain to turn up eventually, usually pretty early.
