Anybody have an stories about hunters attempting to increase turkey numbers in their area? Perhaps they got the DNR to release some or got permission to capture some and relocate them on their own? I know of an area in a suburb that has problems with too many turkeys and an area I would like to hunt that has hardly any. My next stop is to contact the DNR about catching them but want to see if you guys have any knowledge on the matter. I believe I could build a cage and capture and relocate a bunch of them on my own in a safe and humane way.

MNDNR has done extensive stocking of turkeys throughout the state even up in extreme NW MN. These stocking programs were done in cooperation with various hunter organizations mostly NWTF.
Due to the suburban wild turkeys being artificially fed the MDNR will not allow them to be moved due to the fear of spreading disease.
I know MN hunters who hunt these suburban turkeys in those areas where there are no discharge ordinances. Usually with a bow or crossbow.
