what are your favorite mouth calls for turkeys, Daniel

The Woodhaven Red Wasp works for me. I've tried a whole bunch of others and no longer try to keep up with all the new stuff they keep putting out. All the fancy calling on the shows is well and good, but if you can yelp, cluck and purr, you're going to kill some turkeys. I try to keep it simple and do it well.

Nice little tractor for your avatar, by the way. They give those away, don't they?

I’m right with pineywoods on keeping it simple. I like H.S. Strut’s Raspy Old Hen, or Double D mouth calls. I’ve used those as long as I can remember.

Yeah, Daniel, a good friend of mine operates a big time farm (Sod, soybeans, peanuts, canola, etc.) and he has to buy those monsters more often than he likes--said last time he bought one, the John Deer people gave him TWO new caps. He was thrilled.

Yessir---They make my little JD 990 look like the life raft off an ocean liner. Wish me luck, Daniel, my turkey season starts Friday and I only have tomorrow to scout. By the way, the Woodhaven calls are a little harder to use than some of the less pricey ones, but once you practice a while, they are more consistent and less likely to give you a sound you don't want. Second to them, I guess I like Knight and Hale.
