That's the way that I was told to do it and it seems to work.

You can also take some plastic bags, tie them to a steak, and use as decoys. When the wind blows it will fill the bags up and give them some movement. Of course you want to use smaller bags, about the size of a Wal-mart bag.

I have goose hunted with my uncle and dad for about six years and we have always faced them into the wind. Geese will circle your setup and then land into the wind. I believe landing into the wind helps slow them down. So let them circle and wait till they stop flapping their wings before you shoot! Its a blast and shoot straight or shoot often!

look in a field of geese, they don't all face into the wind, i was taught to do it that way but watching how geese sit showed me otherwise. I usually face most of mine into the wind, but scatter a few facing in all directions.

It is all about realism and feeding geese will not all face into the wind. However, they will face into the wind when they are alerted and ready to take off. I will face some into the wind and others in random directions. If the wind is howling, I will face all into the wind, as they do not like the wind blowing from behind on their feathers.
