Does anyone know why doves are off limits in NJ? I have looked for logical explanations and can't seem to find any. Doves are everywhere and you are not allowed to hunt them. Are we the only state that does not allow dove hunting?

Iowa just passed a bill allowing dove hunting and the governor has signed it. I think there are now only 9 states that do not allow dove hunting.

Maine does not allow dove hunting, they are considered a song bird here I believe.

New York is like Maine. Can't hunt them here either because they're considered song birds.
