I want your thoughts on this. I will be the 1st post. The US House Appropriations Committee is proposing budget cuts for conservation efforts. Conservation groups such as Ducks Unlimited are upset over the proposed cuts.

I will 1st state that I believe in conservation efforts and the idea behind them. With that being said I strongly feel all wasteful spending such as this should be removed from all state & federal budgets. The only funds from the state and federal governments that should go to this is the funds raised by tags & liscense sales. I don't think with the fiscal crisis the US is under that we should spend one penny on anything other than the necessities. There are plenty of conservation groups that raise billions of dollars each year to fund their conservation efforts without subsidies from the governement. This would also require said groups to use their money more wisely and cut down on all their wasteful spending. I do not think the conservation efforts will be ignored and put to the wasteside but they will be on a much tighter budget based on memberships and donations and will need to tighten their belts. They will no longer be a lobbying political force and will instead be returned to their rightful roots as conservationists.
