It is a confidence builder to know that gobblers are in the area either by seeing them or listening for their distinctive yelps and clucks.
When you move to your setup wait about 20 min before making your first call. This gives them time to forget you moved in. I like to start out calling conservatively pausing and listening carefully for an answering yelp or cluck. Then respond to it with clucks and purrs while being ready for an incoming silent bird.
Good luck and have fun out there.

I call it "blind calling" but it doesn't necessarily involve using a blind. Just go to an area where you are fairly certain there are likely to be some turkeys and sit and call like charlie elk said. If you don't see or hear anything after about thirty minutes, move a couple of hundred yards and repeat the process. Be alert for the gobbler that comes in silently and suspiciously. I've killed a lot of turkeys like this, especially in the middle of the day, and it's a good method when you don't have enough territory to "run and gun". Good luck.
