I was looking at my turkey fan mount today (on the wall) and realized that there are 19 tail feathers in the fan. Is this a common occurance or was I lucky enough to harvest a rare bird as my first turkey?(I always thought they had 18) The bird was a mature gobbler with an 11" beard and 1.25" spurs if that changes anything. Would love to hear what you think. Thanks.

It's funny, but I've never bothered to count the feathers in a turkey's fan. I'll start trying to notice. I mean, it's easy to notice if there's a gap where one is missing, but with a complete fan, I just admire it and go on.
