Look for clearings or open areas that can provide strut lines or zones. These are usually within changing densities of cover within the forest that offer transitional zones from heavy to light cover which open up to clearings. If you fortunate enough to find a strut zone--some try to set up at the opposite end of the zone and wait it out till Mr Big returns walking the line.It can be risky but if cover presents itself to move in while the bird is at the opposite end of the zone you should get your chance.

I live in Michigan so your hunting area may be different than mine but if you look for figure eights in the leaves, that's where gobblers have been strutting and also look for question mark shaped scat. A gobbler's scat is long and question mark shaped while a hen's is curly and in a pile. Also, look for scratchings in the leaves. Remember, SCOUTING WILL TEACH YOU THE MOST ABOUT A GOBBLER!
