Has anyone tried wolf hunting/trapping before? Is there any advice you can give. I dont know if you want to use a big rifle on them or just go with a small caliber to save most of the hide? The DNR has planned to open two seasons for them and offering 6,00 tags(finally, if not too late). I know of a spot where there is a big pack in a certain location that hollow most nights there.

Look at the posts on this website made by Tyler Freel. I know he trapped two wolves in the past and he gave a few tips on how he caught them in the post.

The first of his series is called "Live Hunt: How to Trap a Wolf in Alaska."
-I was going to give you the link but for some reason the website thinks that there are "obscene words" in it.

Thanks for the recommendation JM If you dig around on the Live Hunt part of the website I have a few blogs/videos about making wolf sets. I would recommend you order the Alaska Wolf Trapping manual. There's TONS of good information that you can use. As for hunting them, any standard deer rifle is pretty ideal, or something like a .22-250. In traps, I just shoot them with a .22 mag
