Rim fire or shot gun for squirrel?

    To me, shotguns for squirrels is like cheating on a test...!!

    Nobody needs that much firepower for a little squirrel.

    A .22 will do just fine. Even a .17 air rifle is plenty big enough bag them.

    Of course, if your eyesight isn't that good, then the shotgun...preferably a .410...would work well also.

    Yupp, .22. Wouldn't feel so great if you bit down on a lead pellet. Go with a .22 rimfire.

    I like using the .22 a lot better than a shotgun, but I never did like shooting in the air with a rifle, you never know when that bullet is going to come down.

    Yep, rimfire for sure, personally I've never understood why some people use a shotgun for squirrels, for me that would take most of the fun out of it!

    .22LR no doubt. Good practice for shooting the bigger game too.

    Yup, .22LR all the way. I've never bit down on a pellet of lead or wasted large parts of a small game animal with a .22
