We can't use a 22 in Ohio for rabbit. I would agree on 5 or 6. I have used both for decades.

I use a #4 shot for my 12 gauge it seems not to tear the rabbit up as much as a 7 1/2, 6, or an #8 shot

WELLpersonaly i have always hunted with 4shot seeing as we hunt with dogs and are always in really thick cover but 6 will work if ur not in such deep cover

I love my Mossberg .17HMR. Perfect rabbit killin' machine and loves takin' head shots!

Agree with the #6 shot. If you use dogs or bust through the brush a .22 is no good, for that kind of hunting a shotgun is the way to go, in my opinion.

6 or 5 at the biggest is your best bet

I would also agree with #6 shot. Using a 22LR is my choice too.

I agree with bigjake on the shot size. It doesn't take much to kill a rabbit, but smaller shot sizes are harder to pick out of the meat.

#6 is a safe bet, though personally I wouldnt suggest a 12 gauge for rabbit.Stalking bunnies with a .22LR and taking only headshots makes for much better tablefare IMO.
