Does anyone know if there any websites out there that can assist individuals with finding a hunting partner and/or mentor in their local area?

AMMO ,you might try a local hunting club or visiting sportsmen banquets or any place they gather to find someone shares common interest with you . most sportsmen are a bit reticement in sharing thier favored hunting spots though ,so find a place to invite them to hunt first until you have developed a bond .

      Thanks for the tip!!

I completely understand the reluctance and don't blame them at all. I'm only 37 years old but obviously, most individuals get started out in the sport of hunting because of family members or close friends. I didn't have that privilege when I was younger and now that I'm older, I'm a pretty avid outdoorsman. Hiking, fishing, trapping and camping.

I'm really interested in honing my skills and would love to begin doing some hunting each season. I'm really surprised our local DNR doesn't offer some sort of mentorship program. I contacted three different sportsmen's clubs as well as three different gun clubs and no such luck. Probably due to the reason you mentioned earlier.

I actually joined one of the local gun clubs last weekend and posted an advertisement on their bulletin board and had several nice guys give me a call back immediately. I'm going to meet up with one of them this weekend at the gun club to sight in our rifles and then we're going out in the field the following weekend. It's definitely not easy to get involved in the sport as an adult. But with a little persistence, hopefully, I'll be making some solid hunting memories of my own in no time. =)
