Been hunting coyotes, i know there is at least 4 coyotes there and i have had them come to my calls once, but not again, this was about a week ago. I tried today and they wouldnt come, can they remember the shot from last week.

Did you set up the same the same way and do everything the same? If it was the first time they were shot at they'd probably come back, but they might have come around a different way and winded you perhaps. Try setting up in a new spot and see if they'll come back, the friggen things are wily.

I have never seen a coyote that I shot at and not killed again. They might have come in and watched you for a while making sure not to be seen. Try baiting them and they might come back.

Try Switching up the call. For example a flicker instead of a rabbit.

Try moving 200 yards, set up, wait 20 minutes (don't move) before calling. Pay attention to the wind. Try changing from AM to PM. And the missed shot.....you just educated them. Good luck!!!

if you educated them with a distress sound. try one of the following. coyote female howl 2-3x, one minute, repeat 2x. coyote hunting muster followed by different distress. In jan/feb, female invitation howl followed by breeding chirps. don't use the same sound you called them in with again til next year. if you try all your sounds randomly all the time, you can educate them to not come to any sound they are not absolute about.

Yeah, they learned. It will be hard for you to get one until they have caught something that makes a similar sound.
